LO1: Analysis Of Sound in different products

Jurassic Park - Flying to the island
In this post I will be talking about Jurassic Park with just voice audio and without Music. And then with all sound.

Watching the scene of Jurassic park when they first come into the park is clearly made magical and exciting by the sound track. Without the Music by John Williams it feels elongated and boring. After watching it without audio it shows the impact of sound engineering within an audio visual product.

In the B-roll shots leading up to the landing music is used to compliment the beautiful land scape making it magical. Without the effect of the composed music the land scape is just drowned out by the helicopters engine.

The use of sound/ music enhances the visuals by creating build up with anticipation. With the scene of them first discovering the dinosaur  the music builds tension with the audience by long drawn out musical notes. Without the music the panning shots tension gets brushed over and is insignificant.

In this scene the same composed song plays throughout. However the song tells the love story from start to finish as well as the visuals. When the music picks up it has jolly undertones this Is represented in the visuals as key milestones in the relationship like buying a house and getting married. However what makes this scene so powerful is the sad reality of life. The music has dragged out piano notes that create sadness within the viewer. When the music slows the story shows its darker side of child loss and death leaving the viewer feeling melancholy.

The music changes from up beat violin to slow dragged out notes with long piano notes to represent sadness within the story. There are subtle sound effects in this clip however the music really brings them out and exenterates them.

The radio show starts with the classic theme song, this is at the beginning of every episode to represent continuity within the show.

Sound effects are a massive part of the show. The introduction says  George and Charlles are at a farm. This is closely followed by shot gun fire this reinforces the British country side aesthetic. The voice acting is well spoken English and is very understandable from the slow composed script.
